Refresher Weekend is Upon Us!

Heeelllllllooooo Patrollers!

Where has the summer gone – I can’t believe it is October and refresher weekend is upon us! Hope everyone is excited to get together next weekend at Dodge and will be coming to the awards dinner Saturday night at Mia’s.

1.  Dinner at Mia’s Saturday 10/19 – If you haven’t already signed up for dinner Saturday night at Mia’s please do! Social starts at 5pm with pizzas, salad (spaghetti for the pizza eaters) and cookies at 5:30pm. Cost is $20 per person (the patrol is covering the rest) and corkage fee is $15/bottle.

2.  OEC Refresher – Next Saturday 10/19 at Dodge. Check-in begins at 8am, announcements approx 8:45am and first rotations right after the announcements. Don’t forget to finish your online hybrid refresher modules and send your certificate of completion to Geoff Hutcheson. It’s a CPR skills refresher year and that station will be part of the refresher. We’ll also have blood pressure with Alyse at the vitals station so everyone can hone up on their skills.

3.  Bump sign-ups – I’m going to cover all of the bumps this year, so you don’t need to sign-up. Just kidding. But, we are going to try out a no bump program this season and see how it goes. This just means that if you want to sit at the top of 3 and shoo pigeons off the unloading ramp, you certainly can. You just don’t have to sign up to do it. There will undoubtedly be times where the mountain is slammed and we’ll ask for coverage at the tops of 3 and 7/8, so it will be imperative that we all listen to our radios and respond when the call for coverage of rotating bumps is put out.

4.  OTH – Next Sunday 10/20 is on-the-hill, sort of. I heard a lot of feedback last year that people would like to finish up earlier on Sunday, and I totally agree! The OEC refresher should run until about 2:30ish and then you are free to leave unless you are planning on patrolling this year. For active patrollers, we’re going to get a few OTH stations out of the Saturday afternoon so that we can show up on Sunday for chair evac, Jake Rig, knots and 1 Risk and be on our way home around noon.

5.  Status for this year – Please let me know asap if you are switching to Alumni or another change in status. I’m planning on submitting the roster to Dodge and NSP on Monday 10/14.

I’m sure I forgot something that Sonja will remind you of, but in the meantime, get your OEC online module done and sent to Geoff, get excited to see everyone and sign up for dinner!

Best,

Jules & Sonja
